Bio:In 1966, Star Trek rocked my world...and I'm excited to say it's still rocking my world today in 2009. While it was originally on tv, I used to carry around a black and white composition notebook--that was the start of my fic writing forays. I wish I still had those notebooks today!
My husband, best friend and I went to the big cons in NYC in the 70s--complete with primary-colored velour uniforms I'd sewed for us. I remember meeting the Shat at the Hilton, and swearing I'd never wash that hand again after he shook it :-) My BF and I would ennact the Trek spoofs from MAD magazine out loud, cracking ourselves up like idiots.
Around 1980, I used to type out my stories on my Selectric electric typewriter--whoo, it could store a line of type at a time! Some memory! By the time 1990 arrived, we'd graduated to a computer--a custom built 286, if memory serves--and thought we were so cool hanging out at the newsgroups and, as the internet developed over the next years, on mailling lists and chat rooms for various fandoms that I'd branched out into.
I still have ALL the original Star Trek books--hauled them with us over all our military moves over the years. They're a bit yellowed, prolly have some of those paper bugs, but hey. They are well loved.
The release of the 2009 movie totally restored my faith in the ST franchise after Berman & Braga ran it into the ground with their bad, baaaad vision and choices. I hope they film the next movie ASAP--I want more canon from which to cull story ideas, and also more images! Serial movies ain't quite the same as a tv show...but I'll take what I can get.
