Despite the violence, this story never felt sensationalist. It is in its own way very loving. And I love your Latin titles.
Thank you! One of the themes I love to obsess sbout with ST is the nature of love and how different people understand it, and I'm fascinated by the idea that, under normal circumstances, Spock understands it very well, at least as far as Kirk is concerned. But when that normalcy gets stripped away, I imagined that his emotions transform horribly into the possessive, jealous, abusive aspects that incite people to kill the ones they love so that they never leave them. And Kirk understands that those dark aspects are the necessary flip side to the gentler ones.

Oh my God. That was so violent, painful and... Hot. Very, very hot. I must be mentally sick but, whatever, I really enjoyed it. This is the real spirit of Pon Farr, after all. And I really admired how Kirk is capable to forgive all the pain Spock has caused him.
A great chapter.
Well, then, we're mentally sick together!! I originally intended to include this piece as a chapter in a work I'm currently writing but it just didn't fit; I couldn't let it go, though, because I think you're right, that it is the real spirit of pon farr that has been diluted over the years from its original ferocity.

Great intuition (Pon Farr MUST be something like that if it is associated with all that shame and so greatly feared by those who have to endure it), masterly written and deeply felt - there is no greater love than the one who is willing to sacrifice himself for the beloved.
Thank you!! I feel that pon farr has been romanticized in fic-land into something much more innocuous than originally described in TOS and wanted to get back to what I think of as the original horror/shame of the event. And thank you too for recognizing the sacrifice involved; the strength differential between Vulcans and Humans seems to have disappeared in the newest ST movies (e.g. the whole bridge fight scene in ST:XI should have ended with Spock killing Kirk in about 10 seconds), but in my mind, Kirk would have known that Spock would have done more damage to him than just a couple of hickeys, and he went in anyway.
