Hear you there. I'm still getting the occasional review over here and those notifications get caught up in the spam filter about 50% of the time. I'd have waved hello sooner if I'd caught this when it went out. Oh well, I'm here now.

I'm glad that there was an alternative where I can finish my doorstopper. I've put three years into this and I honestly don't know where the hell else I could post it other than AO3. I'd hate to leave my readers high and dry. I know how irritating it is to get into something only for it to turn into a dead wood story.

I'm bopping around, reading xmas stories as I ready to dive back into my own. Honestly, in the wake of this bang-up nutjob of a year, it's extra-pleasant to see a piece of entertainment where the players are upstanding people who treat one another well. Thanks for the sweet diversion.

Author's Response:

My apologies for the late response.  Since I'm not getting notifications anymore, a periodic response is all I can do.  Looking forward to seeing your completion of your work on AO3.

Nice story! I like that Kirk "bribed" Uhura to find something special Spock wanted!

Author's Response:

My apologies for the delay in responding to your remarks.  I was just checking to see that everything is in order before the archive is moved to AO3 and happened across your remark.  Thank you!

Einfach nur schön!

Oder einfach nur gut!

Author's Response:

A very overdue danke to you as well.  I hope to see you around when the archive moves to AO3.  Thanks.

I really enjoyed this piece. It just sounds like Spock as we remember him shortly after the second pilot. I can see Spock opening that package meticulously. It is a journey of discovery for both of them. Well done.

Author's Response:

Thank you, D.  That was exactly what I was working for.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, this little story is more than delightful! It perfectly captures their relationship at the beginning and I kept seeing Spock in that strange uniform of the first episodes and think that the lovely halfsmile he showed sometimes then might have appeard on his face when back in his quarters he opened the book Jim gave him.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  Sometimes I need to remember that there can be pleasure in small packags as well.

This made me smile the whole time I was reading it. Lovely, lovely work. I always especially enjoy stories that explore the very beginning of Kirk and Spock's time together, when they're just feeling each other out, and you write them beautifully.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  The image of Spock holding a gift and saying "I do not understand" popped into my agile little brain, and the only way I could release it was to write this little story.  Thanks for reading and for your comments.

Very sweet; would love a chapter or two eventually turning into the chess match being a love match xx

Author's Response:

I appreciate your reading and comments, but this was intended as a one shot.  At this time, I have no plans to add to it, but thanks for the suggestion.

That is good. So true to character. In my head of course I know where it will lead, but...well done fantastic tension between the protagonists. Job well done.
