I never tire of reading this story. I watched City on the Edge of Forever last night and I immediately thought of your story.   I love how their relationship builds.  I also really like that Spock takes the initiative and tells Jim the significance of what he had did.  "i am both morally obligated and ... inclined to inform you...".     Clearly, he wanted Jim to understand and that he had not objected.

This was beautiful.  Like so many TOS fans, this was one of my absolutely favorite, classic episodes.. :-) And I adore reading fic which breathes even more life into the the time Spock and Kirk spent in the past.  You did a fantastic job of that here - you laid the groundwork wonderfully, the atmosphere was spot on!  The scene with Edith in the beginning was a little heart-wrenching (I've always had a soft spot for Edith, the tragedy of her story..), although I actually would have expected her to extend the holiday dinner invitation to Spock as well, given her kind-hearted nature!  Of course, Jim naturally would have had to decline anyway, I'm sure.. ;-)

The Vulcan hand-kink is another well-loved favorite of mine, and you did it so well.  I find sometimes that it becomes almost too sexualized (I'm guilty of writing that myself in one or two fics), but what I really love about it is the intimacy, the trust and senuality implied.  You handled that scene so well.  Kirk and Spock were just so in-character throughout - this was a pleasure to read!  Thanks for sharing!

Also, I do believe I recognize your name from KisCon this October... :-) Do correct me if I'm wrong!  But if not, it was lovely to meet you there.  I only wish that KisCon puzzle had gotten done in time... haha.

Thank you so much for reading!! <333 I'm so glad that you liked it!! =D

I'm soooo with you on the hand kink. It's a trope I never tire of. There's just something so sexy about Vulcan hand sensitivity... I suppose it's because of how an every day thing can become so important when stimulated. Or maybe it's how Spock tries to keep his stoicim while his fingers are being kissed? The jury's out on that one. ehehe

And yes, that was meeeee! It was a pleasure meeting you there! Hope to see you at a future con! :3 Next time, we gotta work extra hard to finish that puzzle. lol

That WAS lovely,  such warmth between the two of them in the middle of a snowstorm. You're a matstwr of the little things,  the subtle signs,  touches and looks. They open a world of affection to the reader.

Thank you so much for reading!!! <3333 I'm thrilled that you liked it! =D I really enjoy writing about those little subtleties between them. They make me so happy. ehehe <333

Amazing writing... Well done. Made me yet again resent my memory for failing to recall, as I once did, every aspect of Judaism and Hanukkah, that I recalled from school. R.E being about the only subject I actually loved, and particularly Jewish culture... I should've kept my r.e books, but I did recall it all perfectly once- we never think age will affect us! Now, I remember most of the ceremonies and things, but never, for example, the name of the prayer boxes that Jewish people bind to their arm, or similarly keep by the door - and I knew about the candles you mention, but forgot about the number and the days they mark... So, in so many ways, romantic, cultural, and from the descriptive power house that it is, in describing the lay of the land (!), I love this story... So well done. I suppose when it's a better hour of day, I should look up those Jewish aspects I half recall. I would likely forget them again, with my lesser mind of today, but perhaps, I should write them down...

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for reading!! <333 I'm really glad you liked it! =D Wow, it's really awesome that you studied Judaism. I'm sure if you skim up on some topics, your memories will come back quickly. =)

I loved it! But it stopped. I wanted to know more about what happened in 1930 and how things progressed between them there. You had the tone and the pace and the characterisation absolutely PERFECT. Can I encourage you to break back into this piece and lengthen it? The full story of what happened next? The 'logical' thing would be for Spock to even the playing field now by stealing a human kiss from Jim... just to see what would happen. A sort of scientific experiment to 'test' his hypothesis that he isn't imagining what is 'developing' between them?

Thank you so much for reading!! <333 I'm so glad you enjoyed! =D

I'll consider the suggestion! I have another story going that's set in the timeframe of City called The Plaid Heart. It deals with the same basic theme as this fic, minus the holidays. Unfortunately though, it's on hold at the moment while I work on another fic, but I'm definitely planning on picking it up again in the future. I'll think about how to expand on this one too. =) Thanks again!
