“Jim, what does it mean when a person has ‘bitten off more than they can chew’?” Spock asked his captain and lover Jim Kirk one evening as they were going through the small pile of paperwork in the captain’s inbox.

“It means they’ve taken on a job that’s too big for them,” Jim shrugged. “Why?”

“I overheard Mr. Chekov telling Mr. Sulu that I have bitten off more than I can chew by becoming romantically involved with you,” Spock said quietly. “I should assure them that that is not the case.”

Spock walked around the desk and knelt in front his captain. “While you are most certainly blessed, there is not too much for me to ‘handle’. And I do not have any intention of chewing.”

Jim groaned happily as Spock proved his point.
