I'm an academic in my mid-30s who came to love Star Trek, and specifically Spock, just a few years ago as a result of coming to terms with my nonbinary gender identity. Spock, as a half-human, half-Vulcan, manages to make his place in a galaxy in which he is seen by everyone (humans, Vulcans, and everyone else) as "other" and in which he has to balance characteristics of both. For myself, living between two genders - being simultaneously neither and both - Spock is a source of strength: if he can do it, so can I. My attachment to Spock is further increased by our shared personality types (literal, logical scientists; ISTJs who lean toward INTJ; lawful good). Additionally, since my identity falls toward the masculine and because I'm mostly androsexual, Spock's relationship with Kirk - that is without a doubt 100% canon - also aligns well with my identity.

Writing, for me, is the best and sometimes only way I know to process my emotions. You can assume that everything I write is in some way a reflection of my emotional state at the time. Usually, though, by the time I've gotten the beginning down in words and have had to plan through the rest of a story, I will find that my own feelings have been sufficiently processed, thereby rendering the act of finishing a story fairly useless psychologically. So, in reality, you'll find that I have very little writing to offer on here, but I assure you, there are always many in the works!

I'm a fan of interesting-yet-prescriptive uses of punctuation and, in particular, the Oxford comma.

I haven't yet figured out how to contact anyone through here or even if it can be done, but if you want to chat, I'm game.
