Chapter 6: Bruises
As I wrote earlier, I got hooked on this story much later and am starting to read how you got there. I have to confess Khan's blood is a pet peeve w/me - when I saw STID it reminded me of those things high school English teachers tell you to stay away from. So that chatper (33?) was enough to get me to not only follow a WIP but one w/me Khan's blood to book!
It's a good thing I started later b/c some of these earlier chapters made me sad, esp this one. I'm not a fan of S/U at all, and don't particularly like U in the movies, but if there's a break up, I rather it come from Spock. I liked how you wrote their sexy scence, I haven't seen normal Spock post-coitus in a lot of stories and this one was very real and believable. But my heart ached for him, esp when the poor guy was wandering the hall barefoot! For Spock to do that - I realize he was originally compromised by Kirk, but still, he seemed to be shell shocked but what U said. It seemed cold hearted of her, to tell him these truths (?) so harshly and then to break up w/him and insult him for not being Vulcan enough - to rub salt in a fresh wound? I thought it was cruel.
I'm also not a fan of McCoy/Uhura - it's not Jim but it still feels like taking your friend's girl. In a later chapter Bones acknowleges how Spock and he are the two closest people to him - and then picks up w/his ex? I haven't read where they start to actually hook up, but even the part in an earlier chapter where he's rubbing her toes - you don't do that w/your friends' significant other. So I'm disppointed in Bones - a character I love in both incarnations.
Also, if she's looking for "stable" and that's why she broke up w/Spock, Bones, Jim's original best friend who followed him into space, isn't the most logical (pardon that) choice. Obviously, this isn't enough to turn my away from the story, but jsut had to vent re this.
Going on to the next chapters now :)
