I'm trying to recover from the crapfest of the in name only ST: Discoteque and am so happy that a place exists where I can find a ton of new stuff that embodies the mission and spirit of the real Star Trek.

I can't take anymore of the shit masquerading as my favorite show. The Michael Burnham Hour makes me sick to my stomach. So do her shills, I mean, fans, who spam up the internet with reviews and articles that say "Princess Mike *is* Spock, but soooo much better than he could ever be Spock. Princess Mike is like OMG the best Vulcan! She's sooooo awesome you guys!"

Who'd have thought the time would be that I'd miss Braga and Berman? WTF?

Any-who, that's enough ranting for now.

I'm off to read some more great stuff here on the archive and save my soul.

Me on AO3---

Can a person from Spock's past help captain and first officer become more than friends?

When the Enterprise's first officer recruits childhood acquaintance, Tralnor, as a partner in completing a dangerous covert task assigned by T'Pau, nothing is easy. Vulcan's shadowy past still has teeth, and the onus is on Spock to stop a piece of history from taking a bite out of the present.

Jim Kirk, convinced he's still got time to ask Spock to be his lover, starts to fray at the edges, nearly sinking their relationship, after he catches wind of a very special woman in Spock's life. What Kirk does not know is just how much Spock wants to stay at the captain's side as a friend plus a lot more.

Will Kirk and Spock overcome their inability to express their true feelings toward one another?  Is it going to take meddling friends and crewmates to push them together? What is T'Pau so desperate to find the answers to? And, who or what exactly is Mollie?

Another great chapter.

I've been thinking this for a while now, but I really like your use of languages in this. It comes out at appropriate places and doesn't bog down the pacing.

Author's Response:

Thanks. I'm not much of a linguist, but I feel that these details add some authenticity to the experiences of the characters and the richness of the world they inhabit.

Perfect chapter for valentine's day.

Author's Response:

I didn't plan it that way, it just happened.

Thanks for reading.

Two intense, serious chapters in a row, and this one ends with a lol moment that probably got my neighbors thinking I'm batshit.

Author's Response:

Your neighbors don't know what they're missing out on.

Thanks for the comment. It put a smile on my face.

Damn! The chickens are coming home to roost in this chapter. How does this keep cranking up the intensity? Maybe seeing Spock this pissed off will get Jim to pull his head out of his ass?

Author's Response:

Glad you're still enjoying this. Thanks for reading.

The last three paragraphs, holy smokes! Another great twist.

This was a hard chapter because it gets you interested in Jock and Paulette. I can see how hard it was for all of these people to lose their friends and how it impacts them years and years later.

These movie chapters that are like self-contained short stories are one of the most creative ways I've seen someone do flashbacks for character backstory development. I like how it works to help Kirk come to some good understanding about Spock.

Author's Response:

I wanted to do something that got the same sort of information across without doing too many flashbacks and also not going with the letters/journal entry/diary sort of approach.

What can be said about someone like Tatyana other than she's right and some people shouldn't have families if they don't actually want them? It sure says a lot about where Laura came from to become the person she did. And the school thing? What the heck?

Kirk is a total basket case. You've got me wanting to learn more about Sarek and T'Lal going all Indiana Jones. Those would be fund adventures to read. These last two chapters really make me question if Jim and Spock will ge ttogether at all?

You could have called this story Obsession because that's what Kirk is. He should understand that he's really hurting himself the most in all of this. Humans get weird like this sometimes and at the point, I hope Spock decides that Jim sin't for him right now and they try again later in the post TMP era.

Tralnor and Sha'leyen are darling in this chapter. I've been rooting for them since the beginning. Christine was the farthest from darling. She needs to gtfo and leave everyone alone.

Author's Response:

I agree, Christine is less than pleasant. Thank you for sticking around.

Some bittersweet moments in this one that made me want to give Spock a hug. Kuznetsov and Bones are wise people Jim should listen to and won't. Really good.

Author's Response:

Some people, their theme is the song Big Yellow Taxi. Bittersweet is a good description of what I was going for with Spock. Thank you.

I was sad when the weekend came and went withoug an update, then this popped up. Thank you!

Last chapter was powerful and this one is too, nice how 85 is a good payoff for 84. And Kirk's last line to Spock gives me some hope for our wayward captain.

Author's Response:

I had a kind of crazy forensic case going on that gobbled up my life, so I couldn't get that chapter out at my usual time. I'm glad you're still with me. Thank you for reading.

Poor Scotty. Enterprise is his pride and joy and now there are strangers coming to mess things up. I liked the scenes at the California house too with the continued evolution of Joe from obnoxious screwoffto something more.

Author's Response:

Glad that you're still enjoying my story. Thank you for reading.

Another collection of bombshells has got me wanting to read the next chapter, the whole rest of the book, right now. I don't want to wait until next week because I've got to know howall of this is coming together.

Scotty's got all the bad luck right now. Veddah, he's so sweet, even to Laura. They show how good you are at developoing characters and their relationships. Are we getting hints of K/S at the beginning of TMP with the long-distance contact?

The Wenie Roast was hillarious and now we can see why Scotty said what he did about T'Lal. And the kid screamed some more. Can't wait for next week. I'm interested in the outcome of Spock's outburst at the dinner table last chepter.

Ooooooh, T'Pring is a bad, bad girl. I'd totally root for Laura in a smackdown between those two.

Author's Response:

GirlBoss! fight for the ages.

Somehow I get the feeling that this Casey is based on someone you know out there in the real world. She's not on stage for very long, but the reader gets a thorough idea of what she's like. Again, I'm wrapped up in this and wanting the next chapter.

Author's Response:

You may just sort-of possibly be right on the money about Casey. Thanks for keeping with me on this.

Squeeeeeee! I'm so happy-happy-joy-joy that this story is going to be updated. I was going into total withdrawals. Oh, and Jim is being such a dick to Joe. Don't be a dick, Jim!

Author's Response:

I'm glad to be back. I've got several more chapters written and ready to go. Thank you for reading.
