I'm trying to recover from the crapfest of the in name only ST: Discoteque and am so happy that a place exists where I can find a ton of new stuff that embodies the mission and spirit of the real Star Trek.

I can't take anymore of the shit masquerading as my favorite show. The Michael Burnham Hour makes me sick to my stomach. So do her shills, I mean, fans, who spam up the internet with reviews and articles that say "Princess Mike *is* Spock, but soooo much better than he could ever be Spock. Princess Mike is like OMG the best Vulcan! She's sooooo awesome you guys!"

Who'd have thought the time would be that I'd miss Braga and Berman? WTF?

Any-who, that's enough ranting for now.

I'm off to read some more great stuff here on the archive and save my soul.

Can a person from Spock's past help captain and first officer become more than friends?

When the Enterprise's first officer recruits childhood acquaintance, Tralnor, as a partner in completing a dangerous covert task assigned by T'Pau, nothing is easy. Vulcan's shadowy past still has teeth, and the onus is on Spock to stop a piece of history from taking a bite out of the present.

Jim Kirk, convinced he's still got time to ask Spock to be his lover, starts to fray at the edges, nearly sinking their relationship, after he catches wind of a very special woman in Spock's life. What Kirk does not know is just how much Spock wants to stay at the captain's side as a friend plus a lot more.

Will Kirk and Spock overcome their inability to express their true feelings toward one another?  Is it going to take meddling friends and crewmates to push them together? What is T'Pau so desperate to find the answers to? And, who or what exactly is Mollie?

Just when you think there can't be another layer of mystery, bam! You hit us with some more. I hope this means that Jim is finally back on track. Good stuff.

Author's Response:

Good to see you made it back to the Archive. Thanks again for reading.

I like Joe's explanation of t'hy'la even if he thinks its not very good. Points on a line, not a triangle, makes sense here. Then you toss more intrigue in at the end to keep the readers on their toes, nice.

Dr. Okuda, that's awesome.

Author's Response:

As I was writing that scene, I was trying to think of a name for the creator of this new warp tech and looked over at the bookshelf. The Star Trek Encyclopedia was right there and I thought having a Dr. Okuda was rather appropriate.

I'm so happy to have some time to catch up on my reading. Christine is the worst! She can't stop screwing herself, too many real people are just like that. It's pretty sad actually. Next chapter!

Holy moly, what a series of revelations. Spooks and peaches and "alterations" and guns and--I can't wait to click next chapter!

A well deserved comeuppance (Silvio needed that months ago) and a load of bombshells (T'Pau is obviously way out of touch), and im left turning inside out wanting the next chapter. You put out all kinds of teeny treasures that add into a more complete backstory for this universe and that's on top of great storytelling. CBS could learn a thing or three from you!

Author's Response:

Thank you for the compliments and praise. You're right, T'Pau is out of touch. As far as good storytelling, it's my belief there is less and less of it because people aren't being taught to develop critical thinking skills as part of the writing process. In the US, a creative story doesn't do as well on a standardized test than a boilerplate tale because the bland, uninspired one ticks all the boxes in the scoring rubric. Have a good week and thank you for reading.

There are some big chickens who've come home to roost in this chapter. Laura is in fine form to start out and then to see her continue to crumble is hard, especially when Veddah said what he did, it made me want to give him a hug. Between this and the last scene there was a pile of heartache. You know how to get a reader caught up in the mood. Can't wait for next week!

Author's Response:

Sorry I'm late with a response, but thank you. And these are some big chickens indeed.

I don't know how you keep digging deeper and find more insight into your characters, what makes them tick, and how they work in the grand scheme of the universe. It's like the could walk off the screen and meet you for lunch thats how realistic they are. I already can't wait for next week.

Author's Response:

I'm terminally allergic to cardboard characters and cookie-cutter drone people. They don't resound with many readers. Thanks for reading.

That conversation between Sarek and T'Lal has me wondering just what the heck they're going to find down at that planet? I like that in your writing you show how strong characters have weaknesses and flaws, but they aren't trivial and they aren't the identity of that person.

Author's Response:

Thank you!

Good on Mollie for getting through to Laura. Hopefully the scene with Spock and Tralnor doesn't mean what I'm worried it means. I want them to be okay.

Author's Response:

Computer problems have kept me from responding, but I'm glad to see you're still here. Thank you for reading.

Still, thank you for reading.

Another roller coaster ride from my favorit Trek writer. This reads like it should be a 4th or 5th season of TOS, no offence to Star Trek Continues, and it would be a hit. I'm growing some hope that the last few lines mean there or good things coming.

Author's Response:

Star Trek Continues is fantastic. It's flattering that I'm being compared to a fanwork of such renown. Thank you.

Of course you left us hanging. I want to know What's Mollie's answer? I also like your explanation that T'Pau had more important stuff to worry about than the federation council. It fits with your story.

I'd love to have this as a book-book on the shelf. I'm one of those weird ones who would rather have a paper book than the eystrain that goes with squinting at screens all the time.

That bit with Jim and Mollie give me hope. I like to think he can make this work and not screw things up.

Whoopsie. I forgot to say that telescope comment was hilarious. That's the differnece between a Starfleet where everybody earns their place and a Starfleet where everybody gets a turn because there anrn't standards and they don't want to hurt anyones feelings.

Author's Response:

*smirks* I'm glad you got a laugh. As always, thank you for reading!

Lovely little piece. Very much sets the tone in what's a loving and stable relationship.
