Unfreakingbelievable that there are only 3 reviews! Definitely added to my favorites (a favorite from a favorite, btw). Who wouldn't want a melted Vulcan?

And along the lines of CMM's comment, it's lovely to see a relaxed moment uh, collection of moments between the two. Aside from the physical goings-on (HOT), it's the tremendous intimacy implied by their focus on simply being there - on each other. Not thinking about the crew, experiments, or what's next.

Simultaneously sexy and heartwarming. LOVE!

Author's Response:

(puts his paws in his sleeves and bows) Y thankee kindly, sai!!  It was a lot of fun writing this one; the Basin's one of the loveliest places I've ever seen, and 'twas a great pleasure to share it with our boys!  and thee!  :)

Just read A Measure of Worth (thank you for the link/reference in the intro!), then this. What a lovely balance you've created. We're getting to know Shen, and Jim and Spock are learning what it is to be parents - in a refreshingly realistic way. Can't wait to see more!

Loving this story. Dark, difficult, and it feels real. In fact, I while I love your very believable character development, I would enjoy this story even if it wasn't about my OTP. It's the sort of story where (if there's a happy ending) it makes you just a bit more hopeful that things *can* go well in RL, too :-)  Can't wait for the next segment, and hope your school projects relent and your hand feels better!

A Message from Destiny by Tlema Rated: All Audiences starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 40]
Summary:

Based on the redacted, but never filmed scene written for William Shatner in the new movie. I wish they had put it in, but maybe I wouldn't have been able to change it up so freely if they had.

Spock is given a message from his counterpart; it's a hologram of the other Jim sent on Spock's birthday. Will it convince Spock to stay in Starfleet?

Please?

*sniffles* awwww - I'm such a Spock fan, but this...I need NEED this particular Jim. What a lovely fic after a heck of a day at work. Thank you!

Author's Response:

TYVM. I sort of thought it was a flop--it didn't quite do what I wanted it to, but I suppose many writers feel that way about their pieces at one time or another. But if you the reader enjoyed it, then it's not a flop.

The Vulcan Who Fell to Earth by CMM Rated: ADULT (NC-17) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 259]
Summary:

All done!

This is in answer Skutch's An Alien on Earth challenge, which goes like this:

In the 21st century when Earth people are not yet aware of life on other planets, a Vulcan who was sent to study Earth is forced to land because his ship is damaged. He speaks English because Vulcan has been studying Earth for quite some time now. The ship is damaged beyond repair so he manages to destroy it completely (wouldn't want people finding alien spaceships lying around) before he faints. The Vulcan is found by a 18 year old boy who takes him to his apartment (have fun coming up with how he manages to do that). The Vulcan wakes up soon and the boy wants to take a look at his wounds. He is too weak to resist and he fails to push the boy away before he removes his shirt and sees wounds covered with green blood.

I don't want him to accept the fact that the man is an alien too quickly, after all it really would be quite shocking, so please take your time with the story. Feel free to continue any way you think would be best, perhaps change the beginning of the story too, if you'd like.
I'd like to see a strange sort of friendship first evolve slowly, James trying to teach Spock about his culture, Spock having a very hard time understanding certain concepts, Spock finding himself telling James things he should not be telling a human, protecting him from people who cause him harm, etc.

This will probably be a very long fic, and I'm not sure where it's going or who else I'm going to bring in, but....

A couple of points for the sake of clarity:

1. Spock's full Vulcan, not a half-breed (This is AU; I can do tht).

2. Spock does have emotions. His people are strong and stoic, but not particularly repressed. So he may actually smile once in awhile.

First, my sincere well wishes to you and your family.

This story: where to start? It's beautifully detailed, with attention to everything from the emotional life of chickens to the way Quakers would likely be viewed by the Chinese.

The ending was a delight, of course. As I work for a very large, corporation, it makes all kinds of sense to me that you can indeed "lose" things on purpose, but often all it takes is a bit of focused personal interest to unravel things (dammit, Rossi).

What really caught my attention though, was the care to detail in between beginning and happy ending. I do love your writing, so it wasn't a surprise :-) but I still reveled in Spock becoming culturally acclimated. How many times have we seen this particular trope? And it was still new in your hands here.

Thank you. This was a real treat!

Author's Response:

TYVM. I'm so glad yu enoyed it.

Yep - I bet Pike would be furious. Jim may not have used up all his favors there. I love all your stories, and am always delighted to see a new one posted. The pacing of this one is especially enjoyable. It feels very natural and unforced. Likewise, the obstacles the characters face also feel very real. It's not hard to imagine that centuries in the future, we'll still have life-changing decisions being made by execs and physicians who put their personal biases ahead of facts/genuine inquiry.

Looking forward to the next bit!

It was always so quiet when Spock was around—but not the dead, leaden silence of the house as it was now.

This. And you've captured the way it is so difficult to deal with ordinary everyday details: kind people, your own decor, plurals that are now singular.

I'm so sorry, and wishing you and your mother peace.

Summary:

Now done!

As Meryl Streep said at the Oscars, someone is probably looking at this and saying, "Oh, God. Not HER again!"

This is in answer to Juni's A Bond That Went Astray challenge:

Summary:

Jim and Spock are newly bonded with the T’hy’la bond – the strongest and most unique of them, but this time the bond instead of helping, being an anchor, guiding light etc, is actually the main source of the problem for the two.

During the away mission the away team is attacked by separatists and Spock is injured. Kirk must leave him behind in order to secure the ship, save the crew etc, and Spock himself urges him to leave (the needs of the many…). With a heavy heart Jim leaves. Spock is captured and viciously tortured and abused. During that time the bond calls to Jim but it cannot reach its other end. After a week or so Spock is saved and he is on his way to recovery, remorseful Kirk doting on him and offering him every comfort. But there is a certain uneasiness between them. It starts slow – Spock not confiding in Jim about his problems, not wanting to have sex, later not even wanting to sleep in the same bed. It’s getting worse – Spock cannot meditate, cannot rest, eat, concentrate – he succumbs to some unknown illness. In the end it turns out the bond is responsible for everything. The T’hy’la bond has actually a certain doze of consciousness and when Kirk abandoned Spock and did not rescue him when the Vulcan suffered, it “decided” that Jim betrayed the bond and should not be allowed to be near Spock again. So it started to influence Spock’s mind in order to permanently separate him from Kirk. The thing is that the bond’s actions are killing the Vulcan in the process and a solution must be found soon in order to prevent it.

Bonus points:

The bond despite being part of Spock is not affected by his Vulcan (logic) and human (trust, faith) sides, so despite the fact that Spock knew that Jim had to leave and he was going to come back for him, the bond saw it as abandoning a chosen mate.

Spock Prime has no idea what is happening and cannot help. He tries to prepare Jim for the possibility that young Spock may die and I will love you forever if Jim actually has a real breakdown in his arms :)

McCoy being the one to sort out that it’s the bond thing and somehow participating in curing Spock

Lots of angst in this one, but a happy ending as usual.

Ha! When I saw this I thought: WOOOOOOO! IT'S HER AGAIN! YES! *fistpump*

...then skittered off to read. I'm one of those completed-only fic people, and the only way I manage to stick with this is by doing a filter the moment I get to the site. Otherwise I could NOT resist reading any chapters you might happen to post on a given day. And btw, the shorter fics when your longer stories aren't cooperating? Shiny goodness, and I thank you for those too!

This fic though: it's the first time I've seen this take on the bond - that it could turn against them. I have seen the semi-sentient allusion (is that canon or fanon, do you know?), but really like the way you followed such a plausible logical consequence of that sentience.

Plus, I have a HUGE soft spot in my heart for Spock Prime. It is not possible for him to get enough love. I'd need to bring kleenex if the Reboot guys managed to corral Shatner and Nimoy long enough to do a resurrection/reunion scene, however brief in the next movie. Meanwhile? It's great to see him able to help his younger counterpart and not-quite-his Jim.

Btw, you did a great job showing what must be a very disconcerting feeling: the sense of "wrongness" Spock was getting from Jim.

Nicely done, all around!

Author's Response:

TYVM. I don't know if the sentient bond thing is canon or not; the prompt asked for it that way, so I complied. And yes, I'd pay a lot for the reboot people to get Shatner and Nimoy together again.

Summary:

This is for Wingstar--a huge fan of K/S and apparently Sarek/Bones. This is number two in the Intergalactic Fuck Olympics Series.

In this week's episode, the Enterprise hosts Ambassador Sarek as he has volunteered to negotiate a peace treaty between two factions of a world at war...but the real story here is Jim and Spock's inability to keep things in the bedroom and the effect it has on an unsuspecting father and a knowing, but wishing he didn't, doctor.

I hope you will all read and find this work as socially unredeeming as it meant to be, but still highly entertaining and thoroughly arousing, as good porn should be.
