Hesitation by CMM Rated: ADULT (NC-17) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 455]
Summary:

NOW COMPLETE!

This is in response to Tydomin's The King's Speech challenge:

I'd love to read an AU based (loosely!) on The King's Speech (what a wonderful film...)!

It should be set in a universe where non-reform Vulcan is the ruling planet in an empire, and the Emperor is Sarek.  Sybok is part of the family, and has just taken the throne of Vulcan (replacing an aunt or uncle, I guess). However, he is an Edward VIII type figure and will give up the throne to Spock, who is the only other heir.

But, problem - Spock is a reject from the family (due to his human heritage and his speech impediment, which is unheard of among full-blood vulcans) and has lived a lonely and anonymous life on Earth for many years. During that time, Kirk has fallen in love with him from a distance, and they are tentatively beginning a relationship.  Kirk, of course, does not know who Spock really is.

Eventually, Sybok abdicates and Spock receives the summons. How will the couple cope with the revelation? Will Spock overcome the obstacles in his path? Will a common human be acceptable as consort to the King? Spock has already been going to speech therapy just so he can say 'I love you' to Kirk, but of course it turns out that he will need the skills for a much farther reaching cause.

I want a story with a happy ending, and preferably using the TOS characters.  I don't mind what career Kirk has  - you decide.  Whether or not Amanda is in it is up to you, but if she is, I would think she would be a servant or something rather than the Empress. Extra points if you can make Doctor McCoy a convincing speech therapist!

And away we go.

Summary:

[Part 2 of The Heart of Wadj Wer Series] Finally Jim is about to graduate from Starfleet, to journey to the heavens and explore new worlds. But first he must defeat the mad Captain Nero and save Vulcan and Earth. If that’s not enough he has to deal with competition for Spock's affection, an emotionally open old Spock, and too many questions from too many people about his little miracle child. What's a cadet to do?

Notice: This Fic is temporarily on hold as I revise it's prequel, A Trick of Eros. I also plan to go back through the existing chapters on this fic, as I a not completely happy with them and I may make 1 or 2 big changes.

Living another life by biddygirl Rated: Mature Content (Teen) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 138]
Summary:

Originally called 'Existing'

This story is in response to KrazieKat2009's challenge called Another Universe.

Summary:

In an interesting turn of events, Jim Kirk (Abrams' Verse) gets transported to another Reality (transporter malfuction, alien technology, up to author's discretion). In this reality, when Nero destroyed the USS Kelvin, Jim's counterpart died as an infant. Jim is now on the Enterprise, where Chris Pike is still the Captain, and Spock his First Officer. Both of whom, among everyone else, knows nothing of him. (By this time, Jim has become a more mature person due to his Captaincy, losing most- not all- of his brash recklessness.)

Another major turn, in this Reality, is that instead of Vulcan being destroyed, Nero attacked Earth, devastating the planet into becoming inhabitable and its population all but extinct. The surviving Humans have moved to nearby colonies, some even staying on Vulcan, as it is one of the closest Federation-aliged planets to Earth. Until Jim can find a way to return to his realm- if he even decides to return-(where his Spock is in a commited relationship with Uhura), he has decided to help the people in the alternate Reality.

Guess everyone will get to learn who he is-all over again, including a curious- and single- Vulcan First Officer. Eventual K/S.

BONUS POINTS: In the alternate reality, Bones is still married, Uhura and Scotty are dating, and Spock is slighty more accepting of his Human side. (His mother still lives).

BONUS POINTS: Spock finds Kirk to be an extreme enigma- one he relishes in unravelling.

BONUS POINTS: Kirk finds this new Spock just as attractive as the one from his realm, yet unique in his own way. However, he is hesitant to let his attraction grow because he may have to return home soon. (Despite this, his attraction intensifies nonetheless as he comes to know the Vulcan who is so much like- yet entirely different- from the Spock in his reality.)

MEGA BONUS POINTS: Until Kirk can find a way to return home (assuming the author wants him to return home), Kirk is given a position on the Enterprise, in order to put his talents to good use. Maybe in Engineering?

ENDING: Up to author- James can stay in new realm to help rebuild/stay with Spock, or return to his realm. HAVE FUN.

This challenge just called to me and I am going to try and include everything. I can see that this is probably going to be a long one. Wish me luck.

It was thoughtful of Jim not to tell to Uhura what his husband did, but to explain what 't'hy'la' is. I didn't expect that, but it fits his caracter.

I love Amanda's presence for their return! It was hilarious. Poor Spock...

I wonder if you plan to write about Uhura's reaction to her Spock's behaviour. And Spock's reaction loosing Jim. Because I've never seen these caracters depicted like that, and I'm interested to see them to the end.

Thankk you for that lovely chapter.

The Vulcan Who Fell to Earth by CMM Rated: ADULT (NC-17) starstarstarstarstar [Reviews - 259]
Summary:

All done!

This is in answer Skutch's An Alien on Earth challenge, which goes like this:

In the 21st century when Earth people are not yet aware of life on other planets, a Vulcan who was sent to study Earth is forced to land because his ship is damaged. He speaks English because Vulcan has been studying Earth for quite some time now. The ship is damaged beyond repair so he manages to destroy it completely (wouldn't want people finding alien spaceships lying around) before he faints. The Vulcan is found by a 18 year old boy who takes him to his apartment (have fun coming up with how he manages to do that). The Vulcan wakes up soon and the boy wants to take a look at his wounds. He is too weak to resist and he fails to push the boy away before he removes his shirt and sees wounds covered with green blood.

I don't want him to accept the fact that the man is an alien too quickly, after all it really would be quite shocking, so please take your time with the story. Feel free to continue any way you think would be best, perhaps change the beginning of the story too, if you'd like.
I'd like to see a strange sort of friendship first evolve slowly, James trying to teach Spock about his culture, Spock having a very hard time understanding certain concepts, Spock finding himself telling James things he should not be telling a human, protecting him from people who cause him harm, etc.

This will probably be a very long fic, and I'm not sure where it's going or who else I'm going to bring in, but....

A couple of points for the sake of clarity:

1. Spock's full Vulcan, not a half-breed (This is AU; I can do tht).

2. Spock does have emotions. His people are strong and stoic, but not particularly repressed. So he may actually smile once in awhile.

Empathy by Rubyhair Rated: ADULT (NC-17) starstarstarstar [Reviews - 87]
Summary:

Jim has some very dark secrects from his past. Pike knows but he issues his challenge to join Starfleet anyway. Can Jim live up to Pike's belief in him? What happen's when he meets the only Vulcan teaching at the Academy?

Summary:

AU. Academy Fic. Jim's maternal bloodline is that of Federation alligned Humanoid race known as Veenans (Veena for singular), a peaceful, advanced race that are also heavily empathic. Because of their genetic evolution, some are even telekenetic. This species is uniguely united; seeing as all others as "brothers" and "sisters". Also, because of their genetic makeup, Veenans hardly, if ever, engage in sex with someone without a proper empathic bond to keep them stable.  One sign of a Veena is that their irises glow slightly when they are emotionally overwhelmed or excited. Veenu blood is strong in Jim, and after joining Starfleet, becomes infatuated with the Vulcan professor Spock. Due to Spock's half-Human heritage with a blend of Vulcan passions (albeit repressed), it appeals to Jim, who begins making an empathic bond with the Vulcan unknowingly. Spock finds Jim's company- as well as that of Uhura's -appealing. He, intially, sees Jim as nothing more than a friendly aqcuaintance, but overtime the Cadet's intelligence and friendly personality attracts him more and more. Eventual K/S. POINTS: Once Jim finds out he is unconsciously bonding with Spock, becomes horrified that Spock may not reciprocate, and tries to avoid the Vulcan in order to find a way to dissolve the bond. Spock becomes suspicious and won't take the hint to leave Jim alone. BONUS POINTS: Jim's mom is a sweetheart, and Jim confides in her his feelings with Spock, who then helps Jim come to accept what he feels. (Due to Winona being Veena, she is affectionate and close with her son, despite losing her husband at his birth.) BONUS POINTS: Before Spock realizes he's in love with Jim, Jim becomes slightly protective/possessive of Spock. Not violent- just somewhat defensive and territorial. Jim cannot help the primative instincts rising within him, and a few times confuses his friends, himself and Spock by the protective streak that he has over the Professor. PURE LOVE: If Spock's parents come for a Starfleet gala, and bring T'Pring and her family to visit as well. Jim does NOT like it, and gets paranoid/territorial of seeing T'Pring and Spock together.

Summary: WOO HOO! THIS FIC IS FINISHED!

In the wake of The Enterprise Incident, Kirk and Spock are asked to undertake an even more dangerous mission: bringing down an arm of the Orion Syndicate. This mission requires them to go deeply undercover for an undetermined length of time, Jim as a slave trader, Spock as a slave. Only a few key higher-ups in the Federation are in on the plot. In order to get the entire galaxy to believe they're serious, Jim sells Spock into slavery and goes rogue as a slave runner with the core of his crew, who are all hunted as outlaws by the rest of the Federation.

Before they part, Spock establishes a link between his mind and Jim's, so at least they won't be alone in their own personal hells, and can coordinate together to bring down the Syndicate. Nevertheless, their new roles push them both to their limits. On their quest for personal and intergalactic freedom, the crew discovers just what they are capable of, and Kirk and Spock learn how much they mean to each other.

I really like how you depict the Orions. I fond Stateera very interesting : a woman who is smarter than his brother, and ambitious and devious enough to have power even though she is not a male. And her interaction with Spock fits her. I like the complexity of your characters.

I can't wait for the next chapter.

Thanks for the reveiw! I'm glad you appreciate the Orions, even though they're the bad guys. I was hoping somebody would comment about the ruse!
